Here at FCC we encourage believers baptism.
Baptism is a public testimony of our faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, symbolizing to others our death to sin and resurrection to a new life as reference in Romans 6:3-5 “Don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
When a baby is born parents may choose to dedicate their child. Doing so is a public announcement to the church that as parents they intend to raise their child to know and love the Lord to the best their ability. It is also an opportunity for the congregation to lift the family in prayer and promise to join the young parents in teaching their child to love the Lord. However, dedication is not the same as baptism. The difference being salvation.
Once an individual has professed their salvation in the Lord we then encourage them to take the next step, believers baptism. Individuals can be baptized at any age, whether or not they were dedicated as a child, as long as they have accepted Christ as their Savior.
Each year our Pastors offer a baptism class prior to a baptism celebration service. This year our baptism service was held on September 16. Seven people from our congregation took a step in faith and became baptized. It was a beautiful event, check it out in the video below.
If baptism is something you have questions about or may be interested in, please reach out to our pastoral staff. We would love to help you understand what scripture says about baptism and help you take that next step in faith.
